Buckinghamshire Council have a new service: coronavirus community hub. Advisers will let people know of trusted services who can help with things like picking up medication or doing shopping for you.

People can also apply for Local Emergency Support from Buckinghamshire Council. This is intended to cover urgent short-term emergencies (i.e. no immediate food, no heating or lighting) through the use of food banks, food vouchers, and utility meter top-ups.

Eligibility:

  • If there has been an unforeseeable serious emergency or crisis, and failure to give assistance will mean there is a significant risk of harm coming to you or your family.
  • You require help moving into, or staying in the community, and by providing assistance will eliminate the need for statutory care

You can apply online. If you cannot apply online, you can call on 01296 382 414. An out of hours service is also available by calling 0800 999 7677.

Taken from the Wycombe Women’s Aid COVID-19 Letter

In light of the COVID-19 epidemic and the on-going risks, Wycombe Women’s Aid has suspended all face to face activities. We will not be taking any new families into the refuge at the moment and this will be reviewed again at the end of April.  There are some refuges across the country that are able to take new referrals into their refuges and we are supporting local women to access these refuges via our helpline as usual.

Wycombe Women’s Aid will continue to provide:

  • Helpline
  • Support for women and children living in the refuge
  • Counselling
  • Outreach
  • IDVA
  • Youth Work

The above are available via telephone and a variety of video and messaging platforms.
